The Cropscan 2000H is a powerful near infrared spectrophotometer capable of measuring protein and moisture in cereal grains. The instrument consists of a NIR Spectrometer, a Remote Sampling Device and a Remote Display Module. The NIR Spectrometer is mounted inside the cabin of the header. The Remote Sampling Device is mounted on the bubble auger and is connected to the NIR Spectrometer using a Fibre Optic Cable. A plunger in the remote Sampling Device, traps a sample of grain in a sample cell. NIR light passes through the grains and is transmitted back to the spectrometer, where the protein and moisture are calculated. The data is displayed on the Remote Display Module which sits inside the cabin at eye level for the driver. The display shows a moving average for protein and moisture and the bin average.
A GPS signal can be read from an external GPS device. The longitude and latitude are stored in the instrumentŐs memory, along with the protein, moisture, time and data. This data can be retrieved into a PC for paddock mapping and data evaluation.
